Rendering a scene can be interpreted as a function \(R(\mathbf{x})\) where the input is the parameters of the scene, lighting and camera, and the output is the rendered image. Using differentiable rendering allows us to obtain gradient information from the image to the parameters of the scene to apply the gradient descent algorithm to optimize these parameters
